Ralph Beckett celebrates You Got To Me's Irish Oaks success in 2024
The penultimate Classic of the Irish flat season headlines a thrilling two days of action at the Curragh on Irish Oaks Weekend.
Top class racing, fashion and family fun await – here is all you need to know…
When is racing on?
This year’s Irish Oaks Weekend takes place on July 19-20.
The feature race, the Juddmonte Irish Oaks, is open to three-year-old fillies and is run over one mile and four furlongs.
That gets underway at 3.40pm on July 19, a day which begins at 1.30pm and also includes two Group 2 contests.
The Group 2 Romanised Minstrel Stakes headlines Sunday’s eight-race card, with the opener at 1.20pm and the final race at 5.25pm.
Who is in action?
The current favourite for the Juddmonte Irish Oaks is Minnie Hauk, who is going in search of completing a remarkable hat-trick.
The Aidan O’Brien-trained three-year-old has won the Cheshire Oaks at Chester and Betfred Oaks at Epsom already this season.
Stablemate Bedtime Story adorns the same colours while Ballet Slippers is also part of the Ballydoyle battalion as it stands.
Cataline Delcarpio, third in the Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot, is set to line up for Paddy Twomey, while Desert Flower, winner of the English 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket earlier in the summer, is entered for Charlie Appleby – who is yet to win this race.
A British raider won last year’s renewal as You Got To Me came home in front for Ralph Beckett, while John Gosden and William Haggas have also enjoyed success in this race over the years, Enable winning for Gosden with Frankie Dettori on board in 2017.
What else is on?
The Curragh is turning blue on July 19 for the Barberstown Castle Sapphire Awards, making for a day filled with fashion, excitement, fun and the thrill of the races.
On Sunday, thrilling racing meets magical family fun as the Dragon Experience lands at the Curragh.
Kids will have the chance to meet Draven, Gargles, Kaida, Ember and Nadder, snapping photos with each of them, as well as enjoying face painting opportunities.
Family bundles are available for July 20 which include two adult entry tickets, a race card, four 10 food vouchers and four ice cream vouchers.
