The Schools Business Partnership is an education inclusion programme that partners schools with businesses that are situated in the same geographical area as the business. Our Schools programme with the Curragh Post Primary school has been running for a number of years.
The vision is to empower young students to take control of their future and to develop an appreciation for education. We encourage the students to broaden their horizons, consider all the options available to them and to strive towards reaching their full potential.
HRI have participated in the following programmes:
- Post-Primary School Programmes
- The Skills @ Work Programme
- The Student Mentoring Programme
In addition our employees actively take part in fundraising initiatives throughout the year and generously give their time to a variety of causes.
Prize-money
Horse Racing Ireland has developed initiatives with key stakeholders to
directly benefit and protect both persons employed in the industry and to assist
in the funding of charitable organisations.
As part of the distribution of prize-money, (see: HRI
Directives, Directive 7 – section iv)
a portion of the prize-money won by the horse owner is deducted and
redistributed. This deduction is split between various parties/organisations
including some charitable and educational institutes, such as: the Irish Horse
Welfare Trust, RACE (Racing Academy
& Centre of Education), the Irish Blue Cross, the Stable
Employees Bonus Scheme, and the Jockeys Emergency Fund.
Industry Services Fund
The Industry Services Fund supports best practice in the provision of
medical and horse care facilities at racecourses by contributing to:
Providers of Jockeys' ambulances (e.g. Order of Malta)
Suppliers of Horse ambulances (e.g. Irish Blue Cross)
Racing Charity Support
We provide marketing and PR support to various Irish racing charities, including:
