Cork racecourse is the venue for the inaugural
‘Tote Backs Your Team Handicap Hurdle’ tomorrow evening. In all, 12 runners
owned by syndicate and racing clubs will line up for the €15,000 prize fund in

Local Syndicate, a syndicate which was formed on the back of the National
Racehorse Trainer Open Morning.
Trainer John Shark Hanlon, said: “The group of six lads from Kilkenny, Wexford
and Dublin got together at our open morning in May. It proves that welcoming
people behind the scenes of a working yard can really whet the appetite and
further entice them to become involved as owners.”
County Wicklow trainer Francis Flood, commented: “The conditions of this race
suited my runner, Alcander, and the fact the race is restricted made it even
more appealing to make an entry. The hospitality on offer for owners should
make it a fun and enjoyable evenings racing.”
Amber Byrne, Owner Development Manager, Horse Racing Ireland, commented: “We
are grateful to the owners and trainers who have supported the first race of
the initiative. To have a runner owned by a group formed from one of the National
