Gordon Elliott reported on Monday that Samcro has emerged none the worse from the Grade 1 Drinmore Novice Chase at Fairyhouse on Sunday when he exited two out when upsides the winner Fakir D'oudairies, writes Tony O'Hehir.

"Samcro was fine this morning. What happened was unfortunate and who knows what might have happened. But there were plenty of positives to take out of his performance," Elliott said.

Samcro has three Grade 1 entries over Christmas - in the 2m Racing Post Novice Chase at Leopardstown on December 26 and the 2m4f Matchbook Betting Exchange Novice Chase over just short of 2m4f at Limerick on the same day and in the 3m Neville Hotels Novice Chase at Leopardstown on December 29.

Elliott said: "I haven't discussed things with Michael and Eddie (O'Leary) but we'll make a plan in the next ten days."

Elliott indicated that ten-time Grade 1 winner Apple's Jade is likely to revert to 3m at Leopardstown's Christmas meeting after finishing third, 13 lengths behind the winner Honeysuckle, when attempting to win the Hatton's Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse on Sunday for the fourth consecutive year.

He said: "Apple's Jade seemed fine this morning. We haven't made a definite plan yet but I'd imagine she'll probably go to Leopardstown for the Grade 1 Frank Ward Memorial Hurdle on December 28.

"She won the race last year and I haven't given up on her yet. We'll probably try her in headgear for the first time and see how things go and then review things. She hasn't fired so far this season but she owes us nothing."

Envoi Allen, who retained his unbeaten record in the Royal Bond Novice Hurdle on Sunday, is likely to continue in novice company although he is entered for the unrestricted Grade 1 Matheson Hurdle at Leopardstown on December 29.

"I haven't yet discussed things with the owners (Cheveley Park Stud) but Envoi Allen is in the 2m Grade 1 novice at Leopardstown on December 27 and there's also the Grade 1 Lawlor's Of Naas Novice Hurdle over 2m4f at Naas on January 5 to consider," Elliott said.
