Cromwell hunting for more riches with Duchess

Friday, Mar 15 2019

Champion Hurdle hero Gavin Cromwell may have another winner this weekend when he sends Duchess Ravenwaves to contest the Follow Limerick Racecourse On Instagram Mares Handicap Hurdle.

Cromwell famously took Tuesday’s Unibet Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham with Espoir D’Allen – and having already also sent other runners to Stratford, Southwell and Market Rasen this week, he will be hoping Duchess Ravenwaves can defy top weight at Limerick on Saturday.

Duchess Ravenwaves won a Flat handicap at this venue last October in testing ground.

While she was beaten in two hurdle outings since, both runs were solid efforts – with the form of her most recent Tramore defeat working out particularly well.

Espoir D’Allen’s local owner J.P. McManus has strong claims of adding to his haul in the Limerick On Twitter (C&G) Maiden Hurdle – with Weihnachts.

Philip Rothwell’s five-year-old was an eye-catching second at Clonmel last month and looks good enough to beat Henry de Bromhead’s Big Nick.

McManus’ Top Moon, third in a Listed Novice Hurdle on his latest run, may be able to win the Racing Again Tomorrow Bumper.

A second bumper on the card could go the way of Run Wild Fred – trained by Gordon Elliott and owned by Gigginstown House Stud.
