Irish Thoroughbred Marketing (ITM) has boosted their ongoing promotion of the National Hunt filly by announcing the sponsorship of three mares-only bumpers in the UK in the coming months.

The first sponsorship takes place at Plumpton Racecourse next Monday, February 26, followed by races at Taunton on April 12, and Sedgefield on April 23. ITM will host hospitality at each racecourse for all owners and trainers.

The sponsorship for each race will include a €2,000 voucher awarded to the winning owner, redeemable on a filly at an Irish store sale, as well as flights and accommodation for the winning trainer to the sale.

ITM’s promotion of the National Hunt filly will be accompanied by an ongoing advertising campaign of Irish-bred success, detailing the increased opportunities for National Hunt mares, and the significant rise in prizemoney for mares-only races in the UK and Ireland since 2016. ITM will also continue to present the leading mares’ point-to-point handler with a voucher at the Irish Point-to-Point Awards.

ITM Client Relations Manager, Eimear Chance, who also manages the UK and National Hunt markets, said: “Over the past five years, vast improvements have been made to the National Hunt mares’ programme in both the UK and Ireland. In 2017 alone, there was a 12% rise in the number of mares-only races and a 13% increase in the number of black-type opportunities for mares. ITM sponsors races all over the world awarding the winning owner a voucher redeemable at the Irish sales and it has proven successful in other markets, so we are hoping this initiative, coupled with the improved race programme, further increases the attraction of purchasing National Hunt fillies in Ireland.”
