Michael Halford expressed satisfaction with Platinum Warrior ahead of the Secretariat Stakes at Arlington Park on Saturday.
The Galileo colt, winner of the Gallinule Stakes and ninth in the Irish Derby, had a light workout at the track on Wednesday in anticipation of a big performance in the Grade One over a mile and a quarter.
Halford said: “We were very pleased with him. He was taking in his new surroundings and was quite relaxed. He moved beautifully around the track so we got that behind us now and we’re happy with him.
“Ideally, we’d love good ground for him. He’s a light-moving horse so the nearer the ground will be to good the better it will suit us.
“I won’t be giving (jockey Joel Rosario) too many instructions. He knows the place way better than I do. He’s a horse that you can go forward on.
“We got a good draw (two) so I’ll just tell him to go forward and wherever he’s happy from there.”
Platinum Warrior will be joined in the line-up by the Joseph O’Brien-trained Ming and the Aidan O’Brien duo of Lucius Tiberius and Hunting Horn.
Dermot Weld also gives Bandua the chance to shine in the Secretariat Stakes.
